Kuch people are the pooie.st specimens of humanity which . exist upon this blihtfd earth. It is well kaown tli lí t üknost every person i sometimes disposed to pcak evil of oth ers, and tattling is a sin froffl which verj few can claim to be entively exempt But the object of this present articls is to speak of that distinct olass of tattlere who make tale-bearing the constant business of their lives. They pry into the private affaira of .every family in the neighborhood ; thoy know tbc exac: state of one neighhor's feeliug towart another; they understand everybody's faults, and no little blunder or misdemeanor ever escapes their watcbfulness Thoy are vvell-posted upon everything connee.ted with cmirtship and ïnatriinouy, Bnd know T.vho aro going to niarry whoiu, and can guess the exact time by every movement of partiea gaspeoted o: matrimonial intentions, and, if thero is the slightest chance to créate a disturbance, excite jealousy, or "break up" a match, they take tidvantage of it, ant do all in their power to keep people in a state of constant vexation. ïhey glide quietl5' from gtratlemen lo lady, froiu motber to uaughter, from father to son and in the ears of all they pour their bitIer whispers of slander and abuse, and al tho same time pretend to be the mosi sincere friends oí taose they talk to Their uauseouspills of slander are sugarcoated with siniles and words of friendship. Tattlers are confmed to no particular clas3, and they operato in all. We find thein among the rich and the poor - " uiper ten" and tho "lower million," - in the churcE and out of it. They are people who have no higher ambition than to bo well-informcd in regard to other people's private business, to retail scandal tü their neighbors, and to exult in fiendish triumph over t)io wounded feeling and bruised hearts of their innocent victims.
