Hearly all sick animáis become so by improper eating, in the first place. Ninn case out of ten, the digestión is wrong. It was mixed, placed in a junk bottle, the head held upward, and the water with the charcoal poured downward. In five minutes the improvement was visible, and in a few hours the animal was in the pasture, quietly eating grass. Another instance of equal euccess occurred with a yonng heifer which became badly bloated by eating green apples after a hard wind. The bloat was so severe that the sides were almoat as hard as a barrel. The old remedy, saleratus, was tried for the purpose of correcting the acidity. But the attempt to put it down always caused coughing, and it did little good. Half a teaspoonful of powder charcoal was next given. In six hours all appoarance of bloat had gone and the heiier was well.
