The colorea men of Washington have formed a secret organization called the " Equal Eights League," the mambers of which bind thoniselves to support none but men of their own color for office. The organB in the District condemn this action, and insist that the negroes have had their full share in the distnbution of patronage. A ready answer to this is found in the fact that without the black votea the Bepublioan party in the Distriot would be in a hopeless minority. Washington City was Demooratic until after the ratification of the fourteenth and fifteenth amendments, and so was the remainder of the District. AVhile the formation of any secret politioal organization is to be deprecated, whether the principal movers be blaoks or whites, it is quite evident that the oolored men in the Distriot muRt be dissatisfied with the treatment they have received at the hands of their white leaders, else they would not take the action they have. - iV.
