The clouds are winged with a polden hue, The grass ia wet, as with drops of dW, And through the forest and o'er tlie plain The soft air plays with a muical stram, O, isn't it pleasant just after the rain ! The flowers, with cups oi crimson and gold, The rain drops close to their hearts doth hold, And on tlieir breaste how calmly they've lain, To be kissed bv the zephyrs again and again, O, isn't it lovfiy, just alter the rain ! The rhirp of the cricket and the frog is heartl. And sweet is the song of the evening bird ; The fire-fly starts irom where it has lain, Tu go on i journoy with its lightuing train ! And isn't. it beautiful just after the rain ! Thns, even in life, the clouds will ïrisn To darken iwhile (he blue of our skies ; Soon the clouds burat, and after the rain Tlie sun shiiu'sforth and we often exclunn, IJ, isn't it hright just after the rain !
