Mr. irish, chairman ot the Democratie State Central Committee, bydiroction oi the committee, has issued the following address to the Demooracy of the State : To the Iowa Demócrata : " Year after j'oar tlie treasury ot' Iowa is plundered, and the State's honor defiled by the party in power. Year after year eleetions are carried upon promises which are broken before the ballots are counted, and so bold have the depreda;ions upon popular rights and publio money become, that they do not fear to Dlace upon their tickets men wlXo have, under oath, confessed to a betrayal of ;heir trust and an abuse oí' their position Robbed thus on the one hand by their own servants, the people find themselves under a State government which appears o exist only to subserve the plundering schemes of monopoly eorporations, who, y altérnate blandishment and threat, ïold the local judiciary in the hollows of their hands, while the legislativo and ixecutive functions are supinely at their jehent to i'etch and carry at their cali. - L'he patronage of this evil systeru has Irawn within its control a following vhieh, in turn, projects conscious and viable influenee into the ranka of both poitical parties, so that it is undeniable hat they have both, measured by the leptu ot their respective responsibility, brfeited the confidenoe ot' the - Tour committee, having observed indiations of a popular uprising amidst hese outrages, deemed it unwise to cali State Convention of the Detnoeracy, ather preferring to await the fusing of lementa in au independent convention lefore it should cotumunicate with its onstituency. Tha tree convention at )ea MoiiiüD has been held. Itappearsto s to promis) a strong following, which will more nearly equalize the political brces of the State. There must be an pposition party in Iowa. If this is not be Democratie party it must be another arty, and if it be not another it must e the Democratie party. We deem it wise counsel, then, when we advise the Democracy of Iowa. thathe anti-monoply platform contains the general theries of Democracy. and promises rerueies for the evils herein named, which the )emocjatic party has proven powerless o correct. Whether the new organizaon shall render necessary the continued xistonce of the Democratie party dejends upon thestrength it can develop. elieving that its purposes are right, and iat its triumph will secure for the peo)le every good desired by a patriot, we ounsel its support by all Democrats who ee in the partnership of the leaders of ie two old parties in Congress, in measres of fraud and plunder, an indication lat the deathless principies of Jefferson nay reach the people through a purer hannel and cleaner hands."
