If oue wishes the greatest benefit trom ais manure, he must apply it atter his laud is plowed, spread (at once) even, and [èave so till the land is sowed ; then mix well with the harrow or cultivator ; sow iinuiediately after that. By leaving the ipread manure on the surface after plowingi up to the tiine of sowing, tho rain will wash out the soluble parts and soak the soil, - the top soü with them. ïliis is ah even distribut.ion, - perfeotly so; and it is the only way, save by liquid manure, that this can be done perïeutly ; in fact it is liquid manure, the dienching and washing out bv the rains. Now, an equal distribution is of the utmost importance, as itenables the roots to come in constant contact with the f'er tility ; they arp immersed in it. If the manure is mixed with the soil (plowed under or worknd in with the cultivator) only that part of the soil that comes in contact with the mitn uro will rcieive its benefit, and that in exccss. ÏLe rest has none, and is uot lxmefiteil by the ap plication. In the other case, wbere the strength is washed into the soil, und the remaining manure is mixed with it by tho harrow or cultivator, the serd will at once start and gruw vigorously, and form by winter a thick pelt, which, with the manure, is a protection. The land by this methorl, it will be found, is in excellent cundition, the seedVed tuoist Hiidmellow. HTfrere it iswanted to seed down the lnnd, nothing is bctter than tuoh a prepara ti on. Sow the seed (grass seed, not clover) iwmediately after the harrow coveiing the wheat has left the field, and brush in at once. We do not approve of keeping man uro long and usolessly on hand. ïhe sooner the soil gets the soluble parts, und the surface the rest for protection, the better. - Country Gentleman.
