MoNDAT, Ofit. 27, 1873. Board met pursuant to adjourniuent. Called to order by tho Chairman. Roll called - present a quorum. Journal of Priday read and appioved. After listening to some remarks from Dr. W. B. Smith, Chairman oí the Board of Health of the city of Ann Arbor, Mr. Krapf moved that this Board appropriate .föOO to erect a pest house. Hr. Wynkup moved to lay the motion on tho table. Agreed to. Mr. Krapf submitted hia report of the amount of relief granted by him. Report aocepted. Mr. Khodes moved that all report of Supervisors in regard to the poor, be referred to the Committee to investígate the report of the County Superiutendents of the Poor. Carried Mr. Tuomy moved that the following communication from the Prosecuting Attornej' bo received and spread upon the journal. Which motion prevailed. To tlie Honorable Board of Supervisors of Washtenaw County. Gentlemen : In compliance with the resolutiou of your body, of Oct. '12a, offered by Supervisor Tuomy, I have to reply : lst. It is the duty of every üverseer of Highways, betweon the "first and iifteenth days of November in each year, to report at the request of the senior Commissioner of Highways (whose duty it is to demand such report), a liat of all lands and personal property assessed as resident upon which the owner or occupant shall have refused or neglected to work on the highway at'ter being duly notified by the overseer, said overseer adding his affidavit to such list that he has given such notice as is required by law, and that the work so assessed tomaina unperformed and remaina unpaid. 2d. Said Commissioner must deposit such return of the overseer with the Supervisor ot his township, whose duty it shall be to enter the value of such delinquent highway tax so returned on the assessment roll of his township under lts appropriate heading, and against the description of property so delinquent. Proper blanks are furnished by the State through the Clerk for such returns and when placed on the roll according to law, as above, are collected as other jtaxes. Respectfully submitted, EDWARD P. Muhlig & Bro., repairing secretary, $ i 50 4 50 179 J. Keek & Co., furniture and repairing, "1 24 Mr. Forbes moved that the report be accepted and adopted. Carried. Mr. Forbes offered the following resolution : Resolved, That the compensation to be paid Supervisors for the return of births and deaths tor the coming year, and for publishing the proceedings of the Board, be paid from the contingent fund of the county, and that the County Clerk is hereby instructed to draw the nêcessary orders for the same. The resolution was adopted. The hour for the special order for canvassing votes for the Court House loan having arrived, Mr. Batchelder moved that it be postponed until to-morrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Which motion prevailed. On motion of Mr. Haire, the Board adjourned until to-morrow morning at half-past 9 o'clock. Tuesday, üct. 23, 1873. Board met pursuant to adjourninent. Called to order by the chairman. Mr. Pieice, from the committee on County Drains, reported the following : To the Hon. Board of Supervisors of Washtenaw County. Your Committee on County Drains, would respectfully report that they have had the Yager Lake Drain under consideration, and recommend the sum of $51.11 foe deducted from the incidental expenses of said Drain, and that the Drain Commissioner be instruoted to correct his assessment accordingly, and to report the same correoted to thi.s Board miinediately. GEORGE RENWICK, ELIAS HAIRE, NATHAN I'IKRCE. Which report was, on motion of Mr. Wynkup, accepted and laid upon the table. Mr. Wynkup oftered the following preamble and resolution, which were on motion adopted. Whekkas, The Board of Supervisors of the county of Washteuaw, at their animal session, in the year 1871, (lid, by resolution of aaid Board, direct the Supervisor of the township of Northtíeld, in said county, forsaiilyear to asaess a ditch tax of the sum of $584.01 upon said township, and upon eaoh parcel of land as set forth in the report of the Drain Commissioner of said county for such year, and Wherkas, Said tax has not been assessed as directed by said resolution, but reraains uupaid at the present time, thereby doing grgat injustice to the holders of the orders drawn on the County Treasurer, by the said Drain CominisBipnpr in payment fnr constructing ditohes in said Township ; Therefore, Resolved, That, the Proseeuting Attorney of this County, be, and he is hereby requested to stilte to this Board in writing, whether in his opinión, said Board has a legal riglit to order said tax to be assessed on said Township and pareéis of land the present year, and if not, is this county responsible in any way tor the payment of said tax, or what duty or duties has this Board to perform (if any) in relatiou to the matter above recited. Resolved, That our County Clerk is hereby requested tofurnish the Prosecuting Attoruey a copy of the above preamble and resolution. Mr. Wynkup moved to tivke the reoort of the Coiuraittee to settle with County officers from tho table, Agreed to. Ou motion of Mr. Wynkup, the report was referred back to the Cominittee to sottle with County ofticers for correction.' Mr. Annabil asked to be excused from attendance on the Board for the balance of' the woek. Granted. Mr. Olcott moved that Mr. Noyes bo added to the Cornraittee on email-pos claims in place of Mr. Annabil excused. Agreed to. Mr. Wynkup moved that Mr. Shurtleff be added to the Committee on small-poi claims. Which motion prevailed. , On motion of Mr. Eenwick, Board ' ourned until 1 1-2 o'clock, P. 31. ,
