Gen. Scheuck, our Minister to England, having had as a fellow-passenger on the outward steamer a son of Ben. Holliday, of overland stage fame, thought to ruake a joke on a gentleman named Christmas, whom he mot soon after landing in England. Said the General ; " I think I met a relative of yours on the steamer, judging from his name - a Mr. Holliday." " Ah !" said Mr. Christmag, meditatirely, " I think not. I never heard of any relative of that name." Afterward Mr. Sohenok told the story at a dinner-table, and the guests each glared at his neighbor, and no one saw the joke. At last out of very civility, the host, a noble lord, feebly laughed and said : " Ah ! yes, yery good, General. Ah, were they - ah - relai ted, you know ?"
