Michigan On Commitees
The Standing Comrmttees of' the Sen ate were elected by ballot. Mr. Chandler retains the Chairmanship of the Coruintttee on Commerce, wherehe has so ably acted for a dozen years. Hu h also a niember of the Cotnmittee on Mines and Mining. Mr Ferry is Chairman of the Comiuittee on Revisión of Bules, and a íneinber of tho Cotnmittee on Postoffice and Post-roads, and of the Coniniittoe on Finance, the latter being one of the most important in the Senate. All our R-'presentatives have been appointed by Speaker Blaine to places upon the Standing Committees of the House. Mr. Conger is Chtiirmnn of the Committee on Patents, and a uiember of the Committee on Commerce ; Mr. Bugole is a inember ot' the Cummittee on Agricultnre and Public Expenditure ; Mr. Bradley of the Committee uu Public Lands ; Mr. Burrows on Claims, aud on Expenditures in thu Navy Department; Mr Field on Manufactures, Education and Labur ; Mr. Hubbell on Banking and Currency, and M'nes and Mining ; Mr. Waldron on W.iys and Means. regarded as the leadiug Committee of the House, of which Mr. Bawes of Alassachusetts, senior niPiuber is Chairman ; Mi'.
