From the Dutroit Free Prees. Michigan Central Catti.e Yaeds ) Moiiday, Jan. Vi. $ The arrivals continue brisk at these yards under the firra prices of the past few weeks and shipmenta eastward frorn here were quite easy. The constant volume thu3 throwu upon the markets there has caused aslight roaction here in yesterday's niarket, though the amount shipped was none the Iess. Receipts for the week and corresponding week last yoar were as follows : Cattle. Hogs. Sheep. Week ending Jan, 12, 1874, 517 781 4,434 Week euding Jan. 13, 1873, 397 2,531 2,064 Through cattle 080 head were received against 1,376 of the previous week. Hogs nono. CATTLE. The yards were not with as fine a qualíty as on the previous week, the former good prices inducing farmers to bring in an inferior article which at other times would not be marketable. This throwiug upon the market so many inferior qualities received a check during yesterday's market, as this class feil off l-'2c to 3-lc. A very choice article of butchers' stock passed the acales at $1 and $t 26, and shipping lots averaging 1,000 to 1,100 at the same price. Nearly all the thin cattle were bought by the head at a depreciation of some $5 per head. The supply was too great tor the homo and shipping demand, and some were ohligod to ship to save too great a sacrifice. HOOS. The lots now arriving show conclusivo!}' that the hog erop of 1873 is pretty well marketed, scarcely anv clioice ones being in the peus. Those iu market yesterday were rnostlj' light store hogs and sold at $3 and $5 2.). The deiniuni is mostly tor heavy weights. A compnrison with the saine week last yeur exhibits a falling off of two-thirds in the receipts. SHEEP. The arrivals liave contiuued uninterupted, shipments to the East being quite heavy. Prices were off at a l-4c yesterday under the heavy arrivals, fine qualities selling at $4 50 to $5, and medium $4 and $4 26. Shippers expresa a fear that the market will be precarious this week. Kino's Cattle Yabds, ? Detroit, Monday evening, Jan. 12. $ CATTLE. The market was well supplied with common cattle, but choice shippers were scarce ; the demand for car lots was not urgent, however, and the general market was lower, variously estiinated at 1-4 to l-2o, but tho prices given at the scales for best lots offered was apparently uh good os last week.
