The reporta of the surveying parties who were sent to examine the best and most practicable routo for a ship canal across the Isthmus of Panama, or DaƱen, aro now boforo tho commission appointed by tho President to mako a digest of thom. This commission is composed of skillful enginoer omcers. To complete the work thoroughly tho oommissioners are about to proceed to the Isthmus, with the facts already in their possession, to verify them and make whatever furthor investigations aro necessary. The Secretary of War has been asked for two engineer officers of the army to accompany them, and threo eminent civil engineers will be added to the party.- This additional survey will occupy, it is thought, abcut two months. The commission will start probably at an early day.
