been given, heretofore, to the taking of fish from tho lakos in Michigan ; and as the laws rogulating this matter have had Httlc or no oirculation, in this community, wo produce for the benefit of those concerned, tho luw passed at tho last session of the Legislatura, bulieving that the letter of tho law will be strictly adhered to by evory citizen of tho State, if only understood by thoiu, and that the prosecutions, by partios interested, will bo few and far between. Here is the law : SECTIO.N 1.- Tho poopl'e of the State of Michigan, enact : That it shall not be lawful hereafter, at any time, to iish with spincs, trap nets, pound nets, dip nets or atiy species of continuóos neta: or uuring the mouths of March, April, May and Juno, by spcnring or ishooting in any of the waters of tho State of Michigan, except labes Miehigun, Superior, Hurón, St. Clair, tiio St. Clair ;md the Detroit rivers, and Lako Erie : Provided, Xothing in tliis act shall bo constructod ,13 prohibiting sole ownors of fish ponds from fishing tliornin as they ïuaj' think propor.
