ClNCINNATi, March 11.- To-morrow morning's (,'atholic Telegraph contains a letter from Archbishop Purcell over Lis own signature, giving his views on -the women's temperanoe movement. Thö archbishop does not iu open terms condemn the movemeut, but says all extremes aro bad, and no irow rule can be laid down for observance by everybody. He quotes Scripture largely to show that tho use of wino had Christian and apostolic sanction. He says he, himself, has practiced total abstinence for ten years, ind still practices it. Ho said that whüe ;otal abstinenco might be tha only gafe and propor thing for some persons, the reasonable use of liquors might be just the thing a laborer who had to carry brick and mortar three stories high in a hot summer might need. Ho says : " I am n favor of a license for liquor dealing, so ligh as to inexorably close by all penal, ies known by law, these vilo bar-rooms whero Hquors are sold to minors and drunkards, by men and women who are ;he pests of society, the disgrace of their 'ainilies, and who are teaching by example the braad road to perdition "
