The Fifth annual meeting ol the W asntenaw County Teachers' Association is to be held at Dexter, commencing Monday afternoon ('2 o'clock), Maroh 3Oth and closing Friday noon, April M. The exercisea will cousist of essays, discussions, normal drill, lecturcs, addrosses, etc., and oannot fail to be both interesting and instructive to all eugaged in teaching. We condense the programrae : Monday: afternoon- Lecture on the "Methods of Teaching Geography," by Prof. John Goodison, of Ypsilanti ; Easay on " The Teachers' Mission," by Edward C. Thompson, Principal of Dexter Union School ; Leeture by L. A. Park, Principal of Saline Union School, on " Methods of Teaching Ürthography in Primary Schools;" Query-box, etc. Evening- Address on the " Origin and Destiny oí the Anglo-Saxon Language," by Prof. Estabrook, oi the Normal School. Tiiesday : Monung- Lectures by Prof. Estabrook on "School Discipline," and by Prof. Goodison on " Methods of Teaching Goography." A fternoon- Lectures by Prof. Goodison,' on Map Drawing," and by Prof. Estabrook, on " School Discipline " ; Paper by Prof. Park, on " Moral Instruction in the School Room ;" Essay on " Our District Schools," by Miss Lizzie E. Gardner, ofDexter; Quory-box. Evenmg- Address by Prof. Olney, of the University, on " Character as an Educating Force." Wednesday : Morning-LectiT6S by Prof. Olney, on " Methods of Teaching Arithmetic," and by C. E. Pond, of the Ann Arbor Business College, on " Method of Teaching Penmanship." Afternoon- Lectures by C. E. Pond on " Practical Education," and by Prof. Olney on ods of Teaching Arithmetic , Essay on " recept and Example" by Miss Mary E. Van Fleet, Preceptress of Dexter Union School ; discussion on "Michigan School Laws," Querybox, etc. Evening- address by President Angell, of the Úniversity, on " The Education we Need in Michigan." Thursday : Morning- Lectures on " The Hygiëne of the School Boom,"by ; on " Teaching Commou Things," by Prof. Putnam, of the Normal School ; on " Methods in Teaching English Grammax," by Miss M. A. Bice, of the Normal School, and an Essay on " The Teacher is the Text Book," by Miss Eliza Kimball, Preceptress of the Saline Union School. Afternoon - Lectures by Prof. Putnam, on " M.etnoo.8 01 Teaching Elementary Eeading;" and by Miss Eice, on " Methoda of Teaching English Grammar;" Paper by Prof. W,. Carey HiU, Principal of Tecumseh Union School, on " Sourcea of Evil in Teaching," followed by a diacussion to be opened by Geo. S. Rawson, of Bridgewater, and Jas. S. Gorman, of Chelsea; Query-box. Evening- Address by Prof. D'Ooge, of the ty. Subject, " Modern Greece." Friday : JUormny- Lecture by Prof. C. J. Thorpe, Principal of the Manchester Union School, on " Hindrances to Correct Eeading of Poetry ;" Essay ,by W. Shuart,"oi Superior, on Thoroughness'of the Teacher'a Work;" Lecture by Prof. Thorpe oa "Methods of Teaching Composition ;" Recitation by Miss Hattie M. Wheeler, of Ypsilanti, Election of officers, &c. The latch-strings of the good people of Dexter w'ill be out during the session.
