At tli tí Woiuans' Teniperance Cuuvention held at Lansing last week a platform and creed wore prouiulgated, a follows : THE PLATFOKM. Hemlned, That the suocess of the womau's movement in behalf of the teruperance reform has giveu us substantial bsuuriince that the traffic in intoxicating drinks and the use of the snuif eau md will be removed trom the State and nation. Ilenolvcd, That in the pio.secutiun of tliis work we roly on divine assistanee, secured through fervent, persistent and importúnate prayer to Almighty God, offered in faith in the Lord Jesus Chriat and with hearts filled with love for soulg. lemloed, That faithful and persistent prayer muBt, as an inevitable result, be aocompanied by personal and organized work. Resohed, That it be recciuiucndnd to those who carry ou this work to avoid all malice, envy and uncharitableness, bitterneas of speech and denunciation of the men engaged in the liquor traffic, to cultivate theiracquaintance in a kindly feeling, and by all honorable nieans to assist them froui a business injurious to society to some other calling, renunerative to ttiernselves and benefioial to the coumiunitv. Jíesohed, That the causo of teuiperance is the cause of God, and as such is one and indivisible ; that it is truth, scientific, moral, and religious ; that it is not a local, but a general cause ; that it is above sect ; that it is above party ; that the evil to be reuiedied is a common evil ; that the object to be attained i a coiumon good ; and that as opposition to intemperance and all its hydra-headed evils, it is nothing less than the cause of humanity itself. PKINCIPLES. 1. We say, with Vattel, "Let government banish from the commonwealth whatever is fitted only to corrupt the moráis of the people." 2. As8ert8 that the United States Constitution contains nothing against prohibí tion. 3. That laws for the preservation of the public peace, health, or inoráis are parainount. 4. That it is in the power of the State to arrest the evil of iutemperance, as it now exists, and that this power implies the obligation to do it. 5. That the constitution of Michigan gives to every child of the State the birth right of temperance as well as education. 6. That any legislator is unworthy of his place, who does not understand the fatal consequences of alcoholic drinks. 7. The neud of the hour is the enforcement of good laws. We have the laws and we demand their enforcement.
