In faot, the opinión seems to ba that the young lady made a mesalliance and has placed herself at a great disadvantage. As Miss örant, the daughter of the Amorican President, she was welcomed here by the swells and received by the Queen ; but as Mrs. Sartoris, the wife of au English civil engineer, she is nobody. I scarcely know whether she can even be presented at court. It is to be hoped that she will not be made unhappy by the change which her marriage has wrought in her position. ii m ii The present Pope is the 257th Bishop of Rome in succession, from St. Peter.
