The Supervisors of the several citiea and towns of the county- Supervisor Webb of Saline, excepted - have filed their census returns in the office of the County Clerk, f rom which we have completed the töllowing table. The flrst column, however, is from the official census table of 870, and shows the population of the several census districts in that year, as taken by the Deputy United States Marshal. Iu the townships, this is owing to the purchaRe and consolidation of farms, and in the cities to the panic, the consequent depression of business, and the necessary departure of mechanics and laborera in searcli of employment elsewhere.
