Adjutant-öeneral Robertson is engagod ( in compiling a military history of all Michigan oificers who served during the rebellion. Many of these furnish tho desired in; formation very rapidily, but others, for ; somo unaccountable roason (possibly beoauso the applications do not reach them) are baokward about complying with tho General's request. Thia necessarily koepa the work bick, and no report can be made uutil the list ghall have been ompleted. The Detroit Pree Press says the information which the department desires to obtain consists of each officer's full name, with date and place of birth, nis compauy, regiment or other organization in which his services commenced, giving place, date, age and rank at the time, and subsequent promotions, with date of terminatiou service, of and on what account. Also the name or names of all other organizations in which he served, account of promotions (if any), staff duties, nature of service and rank held at the time, commands of every description held by him, whether in his own regiment orelsewhere, rank in each case, and period and place of such service. Also, all engagements and skirniishes in which he personally participated, wounds, their nature and extent, wúere received, captures, imprisonments, escapes, parols and exchanges, naming time and place of each, and brevet promotions, stating for what they were received, using the exact language of the commission. It is also desired to secure the present post-office address of all such officers Hvïng. Information concerning thoee who have died, might be furnished by their surviving friends. . There is no particular foim, order or language required in making these statements. All that is required is a correct account, embracing the .points here enumerated. The great value of this information, as matter of historical record, will be apparent to all, and in order that the facts ; inay be obtained as far as possible from ■ the men direotly interested, it is important that no tima be lost in furnishine ' thsin. 6 1
