The N. Y. World has this estímate of Tilton : " Whetber Mr, Theodore Tilton has old the truth or lied about the relations f hia wife with Mr. Beecher, is of slight onsequence so far as he is concerned, for n either case he stands self-convicted of conduct which must excludo him forever trom the pale of decent society. He tells us that he has excluded himself from the pale of the churches by rejecting all that any church believes. He has excluded hiniselt' from the world by defiling all that men of the world hold sacred and to be respected. If he knew and for months acquiesced in the dishonor of his home, as he tells us he did, there is no place for him emong men, save in the horsepond, [f he now falsely imputes dishonor to his ' iorne, he is worthy, not of the horsepond ! only, but of the horsewbip and the r, ■ tpntiary barbor.
