Sr. Paul, Aug. 3.- At Fairbault, yesterday, in the Bishop's Cathedral, an insane divinity student named News attempted to assassinate Bishop Whipple. Just before the setnion News advanced rapidly to the chancel, but before the pistol which he held in bis hand was discharged the bishop seized the man and foroed him into a chair, when he was disarined. The cause of the attempt was the refusai of the bishop to ordain News a priest, beoause of his unsound mind. Unbeliever desires to know if black eyes are always the sign of high temper.
