Death Of Prof. Edward Feldner

Prof. Edward Feldner, since 1852 director or principal of the German-American Semina ry in this city, died on Sunday after an extended illness. He was a native of Saxony, where he was born 1817. He was edueated in the University of Dresden and tanght in several of the leading schools of this country. He was an active and prominent Republican during the political troubles of 1848, and was driven trom the country. He came tö America in 1748 and settled in Hoboken, where he founded an academy. The succeedingyear he published a Gerinan-English graiomar, and bas since been the author of several popular standard textbooks in Oerman-Schools. He came to Detroit in 1862, when he took charge of the Seminary, in the management of which he spent the rest of his days. He was highly esteemed by a laige circle of personal friends, and was widely known as teacher of experience and ability. - He took a prominent part in the National Germán Teachers' Association. The flag upon the City Hall was displayed at half-mast as a token of respect to his meuiory. - Post.
