The Eev. Thomas A. Moras, Sonior Bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Ohurch, died at Springfield, Ohio, Wednesday, in his eighty-fourth year. He was born in Kanawha county, Virginia, April 28, 1794. Hia advantages were only those which a border county could afford, but his nativo energy and ability surmounted every obstacle. Devoting him8elf to the ministry of the Methodist Episcopal Church, his zeal and talent soon made him prominent. In 1836 he was made one of the Bishops of his church, and, in the separation between the North and South, remained with the former section. It waa not only as a preacher that Bishop Morris' peculiar powers were displayed. He was lor a time editor of the Western Chrütian Advocate, in Cincinnati, and a popular writer. His health had been failing for somo years before hia death, and his official duties were performed by his younger associates. He never lost his interest in the Church, however, and during the session of the Cincinnati Conference, a few weeks ago, wrote an affectionate letter, which was read before tnat body-. - Dayton Journal. At Long Branch a young lady froni Washington, daughter of a General, entered into a conspiracy with one of thei'ockeys for the purpose of buying a French pool. She paid $5 and won $1,100. She rewarded the jockey for his astuteness in selecting the right horse by giving him a grand dinner at one of the hotels.
