A N"ew York oorrespondent of the Boston Jovrnal saya : " There are men on the street with whom evarything turns to gold that they touch. There are other uien who are ehrewd, talented. industrious, sober, who never get ahead in any:hing. We have an illustration of this 3ad luck in one of the heaviest wool dealers in New York. He began life oautiously, worked bis way up, and amassed a fortune. Three years ago he made his will. He had $600,000 to diatribute. Had he died then or gone out of business, he would have besu a rioh nan. Everything went against him. Everybody that failed affected him. Loss 'ollowed loss. Wave after wave struck lis oraft. His losses were fearful and ontinuous. His partner he took into ás store a a boy, Wúen his property reached $600,0i)0 he would have gone out of business, but he wanted to give the young man a start. The young man reïaid his consideration and thoughtfulne8s by defrauding him on the right and on the left. Findiug himself the viotim of oiroumstauces that he oould not conrol, he 8uooumbed and pasaed away suddeuly, leaving only a wreok behind."
