In the States where elections were held on Tuesday last, the resulta show great triumphs in most, and large gains in all for the Democracy. NEW YORK. A Domocratic Governor and the State ticket ÍB elected by from 40,000 to 50,000, with 20 members of Congress - a gain of 10 - and the Legislatura on joint ballot is Democratie, thus securing a Democratie U. S. Senator. MASSACHUSETTS elects a Democratie Governor by a plurality of about 7,000, with the election of iix opposition out of the eleven Congressmen. NEW JERSEY The Demócrata have elected their Governor by a majority of 10,000, have a majority of the Legislature on joint ballot of 11, a gain of 11 over last year. In ILLINOIS. The Republicana meet almost the same defeat here as elsowhere. The Demócrata and Conaervativea elect 13 of the 19 Congressmen (a gain of 5), their aggregate majority being about 13,000. Majority for Etter, Democratie and independent candidate for Superintendent, about 20,' 000. Three oandidates were running for State Treasurer, the Republican being elected. PENSYLVAN1A. The Democratio gain in the Congressional delegation ia eleven, making 16 out of the 27, while the State has probably gone Republican by a small majority on State officers. No Governor elected. The Legislature will be Democratie on joint ballot. VIRGINIA. Sufficient returns are received to indícate pretty clearly the election of 6 out of the 9 Congressmen Conservative, being a gain of 2 for the Democrats. ALABAMA. Enough returns have been received to insure the election of the Democratie State ticket by:6,000 to 8,000 majority, with a Democratie gain of 3 Congressmen, making 8, and a majoriiy on joint ballot in the Legislature. KANSAS. Republican State ticket elected by a small majority ; two Republicans and one Opposition memberof Congress; Legislakure claimed as anti-Republican. Good For " bleeding Kansas." LOUISIANA. This State voted on Monday, electing State Treasurer, five of the six membera of Congress, and a majority of the Legis ature. MISSOURI. Democratie State ticket elected by about 10,000 inajority ; a Democratie Legisla;ure; and 10 of the 13 Congressmen; a jain of 1. KENTUCKY. The news from this State is equally oheering.
