The ravages of dipthena in Australia have been so extensivo within the last few years that the government offered a large reward for auy certain method of cure; and among otber responses to this was one by Mr. Greathead, who at first kept his method a secret, but afterward coinmunioated it freely to the public. It is simply the use of sulphuric acid, of which four drops are diluted in threefourths of a tumbler of water, to be administered to a grown person and a smaller dose to children, at intervals not 8pecified. The result is said to be coagu lation of the dyptheric membrane and its ready removal by coughing. It is asserted that where the case thus treatec has not advanced to a nearly fatal termi nation, the patiƫnt recovered in almos every instance.
