The Leavenworth Times says : Singular things souietinies happen on the railroad. A few days ago a calf, which was quietly ruminating upon the track of the Kansas Pacific Railway, about throe miles west of ths station, was struck by the locomotive of a running train and thrown upon the engine in front of the sruokestack. There it stood quietly and unharmed anti) the train stopped about two railes beyond. As the train slockened üp the calf jumped off, greatly to the amusement of Billy Mitchell, the section boss, and his hands, who were at work near the spot. After an hour or two the owner catne and drove the calf home, whioh seemed to be none the worse for ita little gratuitoug excursión on the Kansas Pacific.
