NASHVILLE, Tenn., Nov. 23.- A heavy storm has prevailed south aiid west of here for twenty-four hours. Tuscuinbia, Alabaina, is reported partially destroyed and ten lives lost. Will get the particulars as soon as possible. SECOND DISPATCir. NASHVILLE, Tenn., Nov. 23.- The f ollowing are the particulars of the disastrous storm at Tuscnmbia, Alabama, just reeeived : A terrible storm arose here last evening at six o'clock, destroying one thirc of the residenoes. Twelve persons were killed and many others injured. Mrs A. M. Winston, mother of the late exGovernor Winston, the wife and two ohildren of Hon. J. B. Moore, Senator trom this district, T. D. Hodkins, Esq., editor of the Chrvnicle, his wife and four childreu killed. The Catholic Church, the Dishler Female Instituto, reeently finished, inany of the finest residences, both of the flouring milis and the most substantial brick dwellings in the town were destroyed. Many poor families are without homes. A bridge on the Mobile & Chattanooga Eailroad, uear tbe town, was destroyed. The eastern bound train was precipitated in the Subing creek. Fortunately no one was killed. The engineer was badly burned. It will be several days bcfore trains will run through. AN APPEAL FOR AID. The Mayor appeals to Huntsville, Louisville, Nashville, Memphis and the adjoining towns in the following terms : Nearly half of our town is in ruins. Twelve persons were killed and many wounded. A large number of families are entirely destitue. The tornado oame from the southwest, passing northeast. Unless immediate aid can be extended to us much suffering will be the result. We appeal for charity to a Christian public in behalf of the unfortunate. (Signed) H. T. NEWSUM. Mayor. ANOTHER ALABAMA VILLAGE DESOCATED. Selma, Ala., Nov.' 24.- A terrible storm visited Monteval, fifty-six miles north of Selma, last night. Twelve or fifteen houses were destroyed. Two persons were killed, and fifteen or twenty injurod, some seriously.
