In looking ovor our exchanges w fiud that 22 couuties havo elected couut officers on portions of both tickets, show ing that the strongest and most popuia men have drawn support largely froiii their opponents. The difforence in somo counties between the uiajorities for the Kepublican and Democratie candidates ïsastonishing m mis county, tor example, the Demo cratic Proaeouting Attorney has 975 plu rality, while the lïepublican Sheriff ha 249; the Democratie County Clerk ha 441, wbile the Uepublican Treasurer ha 152. There must have been about l,22i voters who split their tickets. In Kala mazoo the Eepublioan Couuty Clerk Henry S. Sleeper (for four yearg Secreta ry of the State Senate). had 1,208 majori ty, but most of the otber officers are Dem ocratic. Thomas 8. Cobb, Democratie Senator elect, has 812 majority, showing a difference of 5,020 in that county. In Washtenaw the Democratie Sheriff has 1,148 majority and the Eepublican Treaaurer 1,061 ; difference 2,209. In Wayne Congressman Field was beateu bv 1.95b votes, while Ray Haddock. Republioan 3ounty Clerk, wag ro-elected by 425 ; difference 2,381. The counties which have elected officers of both political partios, so far as reported in our exchanges, are as follows : Alpeua, Berrien, Casa, Geuesee, Gratiot, iuron, Ingham, Kalamazoo, Lenawee, sapeer, Manistee, Midland, Montcalm, kluskegon, Monroe, Oakland, Osceola, St. oseph, Shiawassee, Sanilac, Washtenaw, and Wayne. If the Eepublioans cannot take a hint roin these resulta, to nomínate only men trong in ability and popularity, theu the party must go to " everlasting smash."-
