Tuesday eveniug a very large audience, composed priucipally oí students aud former graduates of the law department, was present in the law lecture room, to witness the Alumni exercises. Hon. K. E. Frazer presided. On account of the absence of Edward D. Lewis, who had been chosen to deliver the address, Dan B. Hibbard, of Detroit, the altérnate, was the orator of the evening, who chose for his subject, " The legal character of the plays of Shakspeare." The address was deeply interesting aud was delivered in a terse, logical style, giving great satisfaction to his numerous and appreciative audience. He was followed by Henry C. Stewart, of the present graduating law class, who delivered an oration upon " The outlook of the Times and what the Age demands of a Lawyer." The following officers were elected : President, C. B. Gatea ; Vice President, W. R. Taggart ; recording Secretary, E. A. Greece ; treasurer, Hon. T. M. Cooley ; orator, Robert E. Frazer ; altérnate, L. E. McReyuolds ; poet, Henry Russell ; Executive Committee, R. S. Stevens, E. K. Freuauff, and A. Perry. After the exercises, the alumni, includiug a number of invited gentlemen, assembled at Cook's Hotel, where a banquet had been prepared. As soon as the supper was over, the followiug toasts were proposed : The University - Rosponse by James B. Angell, LL. D. The Law Profession - Response by Hon. W. P. Wells. Ou r Future- Response by Barton Smith. The Ladies of the Class - Response by E. A. Greece. The Law Alumni- Response by R. E. Frazer. The Regents of the University - Response by Golonel C. B. Orant. Student life at Ann Arbor - Response by Henry Russell.
