The Appletons are sparing no pains to make this new edition a complete work. Haeper's Maoazine, with the May Number, completes itsfiftieth volume and its twenty-tífth year. This number is one of unusual, interest. The Editor's Easy jChair in a few words points, with just pride, to the past of the Magazine, especial ly its immediate past; but this number ís more occupied with the celebration of our national glory than of Harer's well deserved prosperity. It opens with a graphic and complete story of the Concord Fight, by Fbedeeick Hudsow, illustrated with twenty-eight eugraviugs. The Seventh Paper of the First Century Series, given in this uumber, is concise history of our Agricultural Progress, coutributed by Professor Wij.I.IAM H. Bkewee, ot New Haven. Seven remaining articles of the series are announced. The number contains three excellent stories, and the editorial departments are, as usual, mil of interesting matter.
