Univbesity Club vs. .SStnas op Detkoit. - Last Saturday a matched game of base ball waa played at Detroit between the University club and the iEtnas, of Detroit. Playing commenced shortly after 3 o'clock with the University at the bat. Tne boys were met with very swift though wild pitching, and in the first inning managed to acsre one run. The iEtnas then taking the bat were whitewashed. In the secoud inning the University boys again scored but one run, while the Detroit club secured f our, thus making the record 4 to 2 in favor of Detroit. In the next inning, however, our boys made nine tallies mostly on errors, and after this they lead the game their own way. The Detroit club has some good players, and by practicing together i short time would give the University a hard Sght. They lacked a good catcher on Saturday, and their pitching, though fair and swift was inaccurate. The game was played on the grounds the Peninsular Cricket Club, and was wihiessed by a large crowd, about eighty students being in attendance. Mr. Augur, oi the Uuiversity, acted as umpire. The followiug is the score by innings : 123456789 UniTersity, 119 12 10 0 0-15 jEtna, 04002000 4-10
