The Chicago Tribune of Sundy contained ,he following : " The rare compliment of being invited to address the Bntish National Scieuce Associaion on the question of education has been onferred upon Duane Doty, who recently esigned the stiperinteiidoncy of the public chools of Detroit. Mr. Doty is oue of the vouugest men among the prominent American ducators, but his sagacity in practical school management, bleuded with a rare and broad cholarahip, have raised him to the front rank n the profession. It was he whom the Xational Convention of State and City School Superintendeuts selected in 1872 to prepare a tatement of the system of American common chool education to be sent to the Vienna ExKsition, and distributed throughout Europe. ir. Doty was graduated from the Michigan Tuiversity in 1858."
