The new State Stbeet Hotel. - W. D. Smith is getting on swimmingly wita his new. building on State street. The brick work has all been completed and the remainder of the work will be over by the first of September. The tirst floor will bo lengthened in the rear so that it will be eifrht roda or 132 feet deep. That portion in the hnck, will be used for a waiting room, a.nd the addition which is one story high will oompriso the gymnaseum. The aecond floor will be occupied as the dining hall, affording accommodations for 200 people. VVhen necessary, Mr. Smith says that he can iül the gyninaseiim with tables and thus feed 440. The tliird floor will be used M a dancing baD, or for uob other purposes as occasion may require. A very line view is afforded from this room, of the Univcrsity grounds, buildings, &c, and the prospect up North üniversity Avenue is certainly d'elightful. The basement will be ñtted up for a barber shop and hath rooms. A reservoir with a capacity of 1,000 bbls. is in close proximity. The rooms will all be fltted up iu the highest style of excellence. A wainscoating four feet high, of walnut and ash, will enrich the rooms. The diuing hall will be under the immediate supervisión of Mrs. B. C. West, formerly of Whitmore Lake, whose reputation in this department of labor needs no recommendation. Daniel Flynn had been shaved by ft Main street barber on credit.
