At Mcmnt Desert, Me., seagullK aro caught alive in a unique way. A stick ík put through the tail of a small fish, and then it is lef t on the seashore where it cun bo seen by the birds. Thcy then seize and attempt to swallow it head first, and sucoeed remarkably well untü they come to the stick, when a stop is made. They cacnot swallow it further, and it is equally impossible to raise it, and so thoj cheke, stningle and fall over, when tlicy ai'e captured.
