tal Association has been holding its twentieth animal session, in this city the present week. The session began on Tuesday afternoon, at which time papers were read by Dr. Hawxhurst, of Battle Creek, on " Hygiëne,' and by Dr. W. P. Morgan, of Saginaw, on " The Muscles of the Face." Among the noted dentist8 of the State, there were present, Drs. Watkins, of Ypsilanti, and also of the Dental School ; Finch, of Adrián ; Holmes, of Grand Hapids ; Spelman, of Detroit ; and Jackson, of Detroit. The president of the association is Dr. Thomas R. Perry, of Grand Rápida, and the secretary, Dr. W. D. Tremper, of Ypsilanti. Tuesday evening was spent in the discussion of dental surgery. Wednesday forenoon was occupied priucipally by a visit to the medical departmeut, to wituess a surgical operation by Dr. Maclean, consisting in the rcmoval of a tumor from the upper jaw of a patiënt. In the afternoon, President Angelí was present at the opening of the session, and delirered a short address of welcorae. An invitation to atteud a special meeting of the New York Academy of Dental Surgery, on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 19th and 2()th, was read and accepted. The meeting will be held in New York city. A resolution was also passed to the effect that the secretary should issue printed circulars to the dentista of the State, asking them to contribute interesting specimens to the museum of the Dental College. A resolution was also passed requiring the election of three members of the association for the purpose of conferring with the teachers of the dental department of the University as often aud upon such matten of interest as may at auy time come before them. The remaiuder of the afternoon was spent in hstening to a lecture by Dr. 0. L. Ford of the medical department on anatomy, and in discussions. Tlie Consulting aud visiting committee provided for, as above, is as iollows : Drs. Metcalt, of Kalamazoo ; Thomas, of Detroit ; and Finch, of Adrián. The sessiou closed its labora on Wednesday evening. Duriug the eveniug the following officers were elected for the coming year: President, J. W. Finch, of Adrián; Vice-Presdent, A. 'f. Metcalf, ot Kalamazoo ; Secretary, W. P. Morgan, of Saginaw; Treaaurer, E. S. Holmes, of Grand Rapids. The meatings of the associatiou will be held in the future at this city, in march, at the time of the spring coinmeuueinent of the Dental College.
