Thursday, Oct. 14. 1875. Board mot pursuant to adjournmimt Called to order by the chairuian. Rol called ; present a quorum. Journa read and approved. Mr. Brown moved that all bilis presented shall be handed to the clerk auc read to the Board. Carried. On motion of Mr. Krapf, Mr. Robison was excused for the day. Mr. Leitch and Mr. Harper were exoused on Hke inotion. Mr. Wheeler, from the cointniftee on criminal claims, reported the followiug bilis, and recommended their allowance : Clairaed. On motion of Mr. LeBaron, the Board adjourned until half past one o'clock P. M. AFTERNOON SESSION. Board met pursuant to adjournment. Called to order by the chairman. Roll called ; present a quorum. Sundry bilis read and presented to the proper comtaittees. Mr. Pierce offered the following resolution and recommended its adoption : Resolved, That the aggregate of the sums mentioned in the report ot the County Drain Commissioner of the county of Washtenaw, in his report in relation to the draiii known as the " Ludwick Drain," in the township of Northfield, Washtenaw County, Michigan, to wit '. the sum of tive hnndred and eighty-four dollars and one cent be and tne same is hereby charged against the said township of Northfield, and the supervisor ot the said township oí Northfield is hereby directed to levy againat the several parcela oí land described in said report of said commissioner, the amount of the tax mentioned in said report against each parcel of land respectively provided. Mr. Shurtleff called for the yeas and nays on the adoption of the above resolution, which was adopted as follows : Yeas - Messrs. Ball, Batehelder, Berdan, Breining, Brown, Depew, Eisele, Fleming, Galpin, Hatch, Johnson, Krapf, LeBaron, Leiand, Leitch, Olcott, Pieroe, Robison, Shurtleff, Warner, Wheeler, Young, and the Chairman, Nays - None. Mr. LeBaron moved that that portion of the report on compensatiou be referred back to the committee, which motion prevailed. On motion of Mr. LeBaron, the balance of the report was adopted. Mr. Shurtleff moved that the Board resolve itself into committee of the whole on inatters in relation to the County House. Carried. Mr. Robison was called to the chair. After soine time spent in committee ot the whole the committee rose and its chairman announced that its report would be made to-morrow niorning. On motion the Board adjourned until to-inorrow morning at niño o'clock. Friday, Oct. 15, 1875. Board met pursuant to adjourunient. Roll called ; present, a quorum. On motion of Mr. Shurtleff, Mr. LeBaron was excused from attendance on Monday and Tuesday of next week. Mr. Pierce moved thaf Mr. Hatch be excused for the day. Mr. Robison, chairman of the committee of the whole, submittod the folowing report : The committee of the vrhole Board of Supervisors, to whr-m was referred the visitiug and nspection of the County House and Insane Suildiligfl, have instructed me to tuake the folowmg repoi't, to wit: We h'nd the buildings ampie to accomodate the mínales, and in firstclass order, and in our opinión no suggestiou of ours could better the general management of the Voor House and Insane Asylum. But while feelinfi a common pride in the good reputation Washtenaw county has eurned in the humanity exhibited in lU care of the unfortunate poor, atill we view with alarm the iucreasing cost of supporting said poor. Tour committee believe that some plan may be devised by which our expenses in that directiou may be lösseued; therufore, werecommend the adoption of the following resolutiou : Resolved, That the chairman of the Board of Supervisors appoint a committee of three supervisors, whose duty shall be to investígate, and if possible to suggest some means by which the cost of maintaining the pour of tlie couuty may be lessencd. John J. Robison. On motion the report was accepted and adopted. In cotupliance with the above resolution, the uhairmau appointod as such committee, Messrs Pierce, Robison, and Brown. Mr. LeBaron moved that when the Board adjourn it adjoum uuti] Monday moruing at 10 o'olock. Mr. Robiaon moved as an aniendintint, to rnake it to uiorrow uiorniiig at 9 o'clock. The yeas and nays were called for The aineudmeut was lost by the following vote : Yeas - Messrs. Depew, Eisole, Fleming, Pierce, and Robiaon. Nays - Messrs. Ball, Batihelder, Berdau, Breining, Brown, Galpin, Johnson LeBaron, Leiand, Leitch, Oloott, Hhurtleff, Warner, Wheeler, Youug, and Chairman. Yeas, 5; nays, l(i. The original motion was then carried. Mr. Brown offered the folïowing resolution : Resolved, That the committee on crimina claim be instructod to allow officers for taking crimináis to the Houtje of Correction, or the Reform 8chool at Lansing aucl other crimina institutiona ot the State, two dollars and tifty cents a. day besides actual expenses iucurred. Mr. Leitoh moved to lay the resolu tion on the table. Lost. The yeas anc nays were called for ou the adoption o the resolution, with the following re ault : Yeas - Messrs. Bal], Batchelder, Ber dan, Brown, Depew, Galpiu, Krapf, Le Baron, Oloott, Piorce, Kobisou, Shurt leff, Warner, Wheeler, Young, anc Chairman. Nays - Breining, Fleming, Johnson Leitoh, and Eisele. Yeas, 17; nays, 5. Mr. LeBaron moved that one day be allowed an offiuer for conveying prisoners to the Detroit House of Correction and two days to the Reform School a Lansing. Carried. Mr. Wheelert from the committee on criminal claims, reported the bilis referred back to the committee, in which compensation had not been allowed to officers, and reeoramended that they be now allowed at two dollars and tifty oents a day. On motion of Mr. LeBaron the report was accepted and adopted. Ou motion the Board adjourned until Monday morning at ten o'clock. Monday, Oct. 18, 187ó. Board met pursuant to adjournment. Called to order by the chairman. Roll oalled ; present a quorum. Mr. Olcott moved that Mr. Leitch be excused from service to-day on account of sickness. Carried. Mr. Pierce moved that Mr. Young be excused for the day. Carried. On motion of Mr. Krapf, the Board adjourned uutil half-past one o'clpck p. M. AL'TERNOON SESSION. Board met pursuant to adjournment. Called to order by the chairman. Roll called ; present a quorum. Mr. Robison moved that a committee of three be appointed on tLe purchase of surveyor's records and field notes. Carried. The chair appointed as such committee Messrs. Robison, Johnson, and Burch. Mr. Shurtleff moved that Mr Ball be appointed as a committee of one to report on fractional school districts. Mr. Robison moved to so amend that the committee on equalization be instructed in their report to give the per cent. added to or deducted from the equalized valuation as compared to the assessed valuation. Mr. Pierce moe4 to lay the matter on the table for the present. Carried. Mr. Krapf moved that the Board now adjourn until to-morrow morning at 9 1-2 o'clock, which motion prevailed.
