It is very well known that the government is yearly the : gainer to a large amount by Iho pearancc of small notes and eurrency. But the figures regarding the three and j ñve-cent issues of fraclional currency, when it is rememberod how many of . them are required to make ei dollar, are particularly interesting. The issue of these notes ceased in April, 1869, at which time there had been issued .f602,000 of the denomination of three cente, and $5, 700,000 of the fivecent serios.
