A largo vote was polled in Detroit on Tuesday, the largest ever polled at a municipal election, with a result highly satiafaotory to all the la wand order loving citizens. Alexander Lewis, the Düinooratic oandidate tor Mayor, vvho was also supportod by those Bepublicans who oppose the opening of the saloons on Sunday, was eleoted by a inajority of 1,676. The election was quiét and orderly, and the workers at thu polls iii the several precincts included lawyers, physicians, bankers, merchants, etc, who have nevar been known to do that work before, but who ought to do it always, in every city in the land. Maybury, Democrat, was elected City Attorney by 185 majority. The balance of the Kepub. ticket was elected, except one inember of the Board of Estimates, defeated by a misprint, if defeated at all, and two justices of the peaco, by majorities ranging from 753 to 1,847. Comstock, Domocrat, supportod by the Law and Order Bepublicans was elected justioe by 1,512 majority. Guenther, Deraoorat, was elected justice, by 59 majority, getting the entire Germán Bepublicau vote. Mills, Democrat, loads Watson for member of the Board of Estimates, by 77, becauae of the mispriut referred to ; the other four Bepublican members of the Board got majorities of from 880 to 968, which figures indícate the Eepublioan majority in the city. The Democrats eleot 7 Aldermon and 4 School Inspectors; the Bepublicans, 4 Aldermen and 7 School Inspectors. For the coming year the Council will stand Bepublicans, 12 ; Democrats, 10. The Board of Eduoation : Democrats, 13. Bepublicans, 9.
