Real estáte is the subject of Judge Cooley's letcures before the " laws" at pre6ent. Daily prayer meetings are being held this week at the Studeuts' Chnstian Association rooms. Fifteeii hundred feet of wooden water pipes have arrived for the water works and are beiup put into place with all possible speed. One of the new wards of the hospital has received one edat of piaster. The windows of both wards are in position, and both are drawing rapidly toward completion. A collectiou of about 250 crustaceans, starfishos, spoiiges, and mollusks, were lately received at the museum, ïhey were the gift of B. Hutchinson, of Catchogue, N. Y. The skeleton of a boa conatrictor, eight feet in length,B being mounted by Mr. R. W. Corwin at the museum. Geo. Colt, of '72, has beeu in the city during a portion of the week, making sketches for Prof. Tyler's article on thr Uuiversity, soon to bepubÜBhed in Scribiier's Monthly. The law students are contemplating a publication of the lectures given them. Their idea is to have them reported by stenographers as they are delivered and then published in pumphlet form. The juniors will hold their usual " hop " this winter. A committee of two, consisting of Messrs. E. H. Gayer and H. C. Moore, were appointed to conduct all arrangement, appoint sub-committees, etc. The following officers were elected by tbe júniora of the literary department on Saturday : President, Chas. E. Woolsey The following gentlemen were raised to office by the senior olass of the literary departmeut on Saturday: President, Ben T. Cable ; vice-preeident, John D. Sanders ; secretary, Philip B. Boone ; treasurer, A. J. Volland ; marshal, W. G. Campbell ; orator, Stephen V. R. Trowbridge ; historian, Joseph H. Steere ; poet, Henry S. Harris ; toast master, Edward C. Swift; musical directors, W. V. Burt, A. C. Pierson, and Charles Van Pelt. A 8ophomore was in the Latín class a few days since, supposed to be givmg the closest .tteution to the instruction ot the professor, but he was really yielding to the geutle influences of Morpheus, and didu't hear distinctly all that was said. The professor said something about "pmne" and the " conditional," 1 which struck said sophomore with force. ' Bousing bis latent ideas he cried out, " fessor did I understand you to say Chat a pony is equivalent to a condition " P He was requested to reseive his wit for auother time. A very interesting meeting of the Students' Scientinc Society was held on Saturday lastAmong other things apaper was read by S. T. Douglas, on " The preveution of Incrustation of Boilers." A lecture was giveu by K. W. Coiwin on " Deformation Skulls." Mr. Corwin ülustrated his subject with a large number of human skulls from the museum, mostly Peruviau. The deiormities, to which he called attention were in the parietal bones, one or the othar of them being more or less flattened. The cause of this he explained as iesulting from the way in which the child was held by its mother, for the deformities originntad in chilphood wheu the bones were soft, or to the pressure of the board to which the infant is kept almost ooutiuually strapped. Quite a large number of intereoting speuimens were presented to the Rociety. The iollowing new members were received : Chas. N. Hall, Mouroe ; U. Oreen, Jame Lynn, Henry B. i'uions, JosepUH.
