A good-looking servant girl of Winnipeg had three beanx to her string, viz. , a military man, a policeman, and an ordinary white man. Blie had arranged matters so that separate evenings were set aside for each of the ardent young suitors, and three diö'erent courses of ove ran smoothly. One unlucky evening, however, ali three suitors chanced k drop in ono after another. An interval of very desultory conversation and embarrassing phrases was terminated by ;he pattering of a female foot en tne stairn. "Here's misáis," exclaimed the girl and three men bolted in three adjoining rooms, and all was supposed to be well. Bat "the missis" happened to want eomething in the room where the ordinary citizen was, and ehe encountered Mr. Citizen right there. "What are you doing here ? What do you mean by being in this room ?" inJignantly inquired the missis, and alie superadded the threat, 'Til send for the solice." Mr. Citizen calmly pointed to anothr door, remarked: "íf you want the pólice ae is in there. " The missis flew to the othor door, Toiind the policeman, and poured out the second vial of wrath upon hiña thus: "You're a nice policeman, ain't yon ? What do you mean by this conduct ? I declare I will send for the military !" "Madame," retorted the policeman, "nothing is easier ; if you want the miltary you willfind him in there," pointïng to the third door. Military didn't wait to be unearthed ; he promptly carne forth and sauted. There was a Rliprht Roream and a pat;ering of the female ascending foot on ;he kitchen stairway.
