A hurglar entered the postoffioe a Hagar, Berrien County, at abont 9 o'clock Sunday night and took about five dollars worth of postage stampa and envelopes and mail key. Tbe office was also entered last Friday but nothing stolen. Xwo different attempts were inade Sftturday night to burn the distiller; of M. N. Joy.at Kalmazoo but the fire waë diacovered aud extinguished witl light loss. There was a fire in New York Tuesday ovening, burning about thirty DusinesB buildings on tho block bounded by Grand, Howard, Broadway. and Croaby streets. Lnsses estitnated at over $3,000,000, with $2,000,000 insurance. One day last week an eight-year oíd son of Henry Miller, of Dundee, was playing on a stiaw staok with a boy of Lis own age when the Une of a pitchfork his playinate beid in his hand penutrated bU skull to a deptb of three inches. Tbe following day lock jaw set in, wbich resulted in his death. He was walking on the sido track of tbe Flint & Pere Marquette Kailroud, and an engine belonging to the Detroit & Milwaukee Kailroad was switching cars upon the same track. Dr. Curtiss not observing thein, was ruu over and mangled in a fearful manner. Dr. Curtiss was about forty years of age, and leaves a wife and fainily. JIo was highly respocted.
