Two small children, sons of Mr. Gubser, aged respectively three and flve yearsv and a chiM aged five years, son of Mr. Smith, wandered from their homes last Wednesday evening, got lost in the woods, and were not found until Thursday inorning. Shortly alter the disappearance of the children a large crowd collected and began to sconr the woods in all direotions. The search was continued without cessation during the whole night. Daylight made its welcome appearance, but brought no trace or tidings of the little wanderers. At one time about one hundred persons were engaged in the search. Thursday forenoon, about ten o'clock, Mr. Gubser's youngest child wa3 found. The little fellow was lying on his back, chilled to numbness, and perfectly helpless. A little dog belonging to Mr. Smith had followed the children off. The f aithf ui creaturo was found j lying on top of the child, and endeavoring to keep its little master warm. It ' seems reinarkable that instinct should have taught the dumb brute so niuch, for had it not been for tho warmth derived from the dog's body the child would inevitably have perished with .cold. Search was continued for the other missing chilJren, and they were found about two hundred yards from the youngest child. Both were lying down, clasped in each other's embrace, almost frozen. Snow began to fall rapidly about twelve o'clock Wednesday night, and continued to descend -without interuption until tip time af ter the finding of the missing jnK ■' The night was dark and windy and extremely cold, and it is really a matter of wonder that the little truants did not perish before morning.
