-John ten Cooke, of Virgiuia, an American novelist, whose staries, in thrilling situations, sustained power, dramatic incident, and charming diotion, are unsurpassed, has written for the Detroit Free Press a serial entitled " Canolles : The Fobtunes of a Paetisaíí of '81. A Stoby of thb Rsvolution." It was comraenced in the Weekly Free Prest of June 10. During this Ceutennial year such a story should be especially welcome. Such of our readers as are intereated in this department of literatura, will, no doubt, gladly hail " Canolles" as the type of the heroic partisan of American liberty, and hasteu to secure for themaelves the pleasure of the perusa.1 of what promisas to be the most attractive story of the year.
