-John ten Cooke, of Virgiuia, an American novelist, whose staries, in thrilling situations, sustained power, dramatic incident, and charming diotion, are unsurpassed, has written for the Detroit Free Press a serial entitled " Canolles : The Fobtunes of a Paetisaíí of '81. A Stoby of thb Rsvolution." It was comraenced in the Weekly Free Prest of June 10. During this Ceutennial year such a story should be especially welcome.
