On the morning of the 7th inst, after a long and painiul illness oí about five months, Mrs. Julia A. Gott, wife of John N. Gott, of this city. Mrs. Gott was born In Brookfield, Connecücut, on the 26th day of September, 1817 ; was educated at the Albany Female Seminary, and in 1834graduated with the highest honors of that institution. Iinmediately after she was appointed Principal of the Jonesville Female Seminary in Saratoga county, New York, where she remained until the fall of of 18311, when she resigned for the purpose of taking charge of a select school at Port Eoyal, Virginia, where she reniaiued one year. On the 19th day of October, 1837, she was married at St.;Peter's Church, Albany, New York, and on the same day left with her husband tor the city of Detroit, where they resided (with the exception of a few months at Grandville) for three years. In the month of April 1840, they removed to this city. Enterprising and accomplished she soon discovered that there was here a field for labor in educating young ladies, and immediately established a Young Ladies' Seminary, which she continued in a prosperous condition about three years, when, on account of failing health, she relinquished it, and devoted her time to her domestic duties and the education of au only daughter. In December, 1864, she heard o) the tragical death of her younger brother on the mail train of cars between Port Hurón and Detroit, and her nervous system received such a shock that she never recovered from it. She leaves a husband, one daughter (Mrs. Jutia A. Pitkin), four grandchildren, and three brothers (Chauncey H. Millen, Philo B. Millen, and Daniel S. Millen) tomournher loss. Her funeral took place on Sunday evening at 8t. Andrew's Church. The the bearers were exGov. Felch, H. W. Rogers, E. C. Seaman, H. J. Beakes, Lewis C. Risdon, C. H. Richmond, Silas H. Douglas, Samuel Pi Jewett, James P. Boyd, James MeMahou, Philip Bach, and Charles Spoor. Com. In this city, June 26, of oíd age, Frank F. Beal aged 79 years, father of Mrs. Ann Crampton, of this city. In Sacramento, Cal., on June líth, Johnson Beal aged 49 years, brother of Mrs. Ann Orampton, ot Ann Arbor. In Webster. .Tuly 9th, of consumption, Olivia B., wife of Edwin Ball, aged 29 years, 1 month, and 14 days. In this city, July9th, Sarah E., daughter of Abram Kettle, aged six montha.
