Tho recent cremation in South CaroI lina causes a correspondent to writo to the Columbus (Ga.) Enquirer : " Many years ago, Wm. MitcheÜ, a bachelor, and planter on the Oooper river, near Charloston, and who, by the way, was a kinsman of mine, had a cast-iron coffln made, and when he lied his will bequeathed his overseer .$500, provided he had his remains put into this iron case and reduced to ashes on a pyro of twenty cords of wood. Tho key was then to be dropped inside through a hole made for tho purpose, and the case and its contents thrown into the Oooper river. The entire programme was faithfully carriod out by the overseer.
