Ev-G-ov. Blair, of Jacksou, addressed til CnnteuDÍsl Retorm Club of this city, in th Opera House, on Friday evening last. Th audieuce was large, both the body of the hous iiui the gallery being denssly packed. A larg uutnber of ladies also came in response to th invitation, showiug thoir appreciation ot th eause and the speaker. The liuvernor bein iatroduced by ex-Gov. Felch, proceeded t muke a very effective speech, holding his au dieuce ior nearly two houis in a marnier whic proved both his power and their interest. He took up and disseoted the promisea of reform.made by the Republicana in 1872 and ayam in 1876, declared that said promiaes conceded the necessity and theretore continued in.iladministration and corruption ; and reas■oned that the promises of 187tí would no more be fulfüled than those of 1872. He scouted the idea of danger to come from a Democratie viutory and pointed out the constitutional restiictions agaiust paying the rebel debt or disfranchtsing the negro - two of the stock Bepubiican scare-crows. He contrasted the services, character, reputaüon, etc, of Huyes and Tilden, reproduced the iormer's record, a very brief one, - and repeated the remark of a Kepublican who knows Hayes well, that " he is not a man to run uround after business " - that is that he wiU not be au aggressive reformer, but rather a passive agent in the hands of Cameron, Conkling, Chandler, and poiiticians of that stripe. In passing he referred to Blame as shamming sickness to escape mvestigatiou, a reference which seems warrantod m the fact that Blaine takes the stump as soon as Cougress adjourns. lt was a good speech and a meetiug to be remerabered. Precedmg the meeting there was a torohlight procession, two hundred lamp bearers, which in its march went to the depot, received, and escorted to the hall a delegation of live Ypsilauti Demócrata, who carne up accouipanied üy a score or so ol truth-seeking colored men.
