Would the Indian make a goodrecruit for the aviny? Capt. 0. E. S. McDonald, a Scotch resident of California, asked himself tbis qucRtion, and then suggested to the War Department that it slionld empowor him to train several huiidred IndiaiiS, promising ia demand no pay for furnishing au excellent regiment within three months. The proffer was declined. McDonald was, apparently, not disconraged by the rebutf. He has recently been giving exhibitions in London, Eng., with eight Indiaas trainecl to execute military evolutions, and tells his audiences that he has 200 more on the plains who aro cqually well traiced. The Euglish newspapera state that the ovolutions are executed in thoroiighly soldier-like style, and suggost thnt " instoiid of being incapable and useless, these men raight bo rendered as serviceable ti America as the Algerians were to France or tho Sepoys to Eugland."
