From the Hartford Courant (Rop.) The Republican party has hud mauy lomls to oarry during the campaign, not tho least of which was tho presence of Mr. Chandler as Chairman of tho National Committee. It was too well known that Mr. Chandler w8 not in syiupathy with the better elementa of the party, and by no means a fit leader for a party whose platform was the admirable letter of General Hayes. He obtained tho position igainst tho wishes of the bost mon of the paity, and by securing oommittee men from the far Western States and Territorios, and from the Southern States. His presence undoubtedly cost the party very many votes. State Pomological Society- The regular annual meeting of the Miohigan State Pomological Society will be held at tho Court House, Coldwater, oommencing at 2 P. II. on Tueeday, Deo. 5, 1876, and holding regular scssions afternoon, evoning, and foronoon, until Thuisday afternoon at 1 i'. M , when the meeting will adjourn. Tho annual election will take place at 3 P. M., when a President, Tresgurer, Secretary, two members of the Executive Committee, and a Vice President for each county will be eleetfd. Tlie programme will include ruports by the officers, addresses and lectures by able and prominent gentlemen, discussion by members, etc. Ainong the speakers will be President Lyon, Professors Cook, Beal, Garfield, Gulley, Ingersoll, of the Agricultural College ; the Gulley Brothers of South Haven and Dearboru, Mr. Reynolds of Old Mission, and others. - Coldwater liepublicnn.
