- P. D. Woodruff proposes to publish a new city directory. _ W. A. Lovejoy has closed out his tobáceo and cigar stock and retired from business. - The Uuiversity Orchestia is drilling for a concert, - now proposed to be giveu February 16. - That junior hop is set down for February 9, and the bidden belles already begin to coimt the hours. - The Dexter Leader credits John Bross, formerly of this city, with "a fourteeu pound daughter." - Charles A. Chapin, of this city, has been appointed clerk to the House Committee on Ways and Meaus. - John Harria, Jr., of the Tribune job office, Detroit, formerly of this city, reports a "fat take : " a 12 Ib. boy. - The boarders at the county house average sbout 112, varying frora day to day by the temporary visitation oí "tramps." - Mrs. Dr. McAndrew, of Ypsilanti, is to sddress a unión teuiperauce meeting in the M. Mrs. Gertrude B. Risdon, wife of Lewis C. Risdon, died on Friday last, after nearly two yeare of severe and pamful illness. Mrs. Risdon was married to her husband, at Albion, in 1851, and has ever since resided in this city, 'espected and beloved by a large circle of 'neuds who "symp;ithize with her bereaved msband and daughters. Her aged mother, Mrs. Judd, is now residing in San Francisco. - Miss Clara F. Gregory, aged nearly 18 Jears, daughter ot A. A. Uregory, Esq., died on Friday last, of bronchial pneumonía. She was in the junior class in the High School, Md ranked as one of the best scholars. -Norman Chapin, an old resident of this Cl'y, aud brother of the late Volney Chapin, d'ed at his residence, corner of Fifth and illiam streets, on Tuesday èvening last. -The wife of Hon. Benj. Brown, of this C1'y, who has been nnder treatment for cáncer fr soma months, at New York and elsewhere. died on Wednesday, at 9 o'clock A. m. The 'uñera! services occurred yesterday afternoon, nd the remaius of the deceasod were taken to Walled Lake, Oakland Oounty, tor interment.
