The State Historical Society

At the recent meeting of the State Historical Society, J. C. Holmes, chairiuan of the committee of historians, made a report in whích he statod that they had gathered sufficient valuable matter to inake a book of about 600 pnge9. It was hoped to have this volume ready for distribution at this annual meeting, but the work had been delayed by not getting papers and rtports trom various pioniers. He reported that a contract had been entered into for the printing of tha first volume, 1,500 copies, for $1,875, and the book is now well under way.
